A built-in ironing board CNC handoff needs an approved product drawing and an approved cabinet drawing, tied to the same model and revision. Confirm units, panel reference faces, fixing locations, hole depths and the movement envelope before creating machining instructions. A product photograph, a nominal cabinet width or a room-planning drawing is not a production template.
This checklist is for cabinet manufacturers integrating an ironing board into a drawer or wardrobe. It describes a proposed drawing-to-production review, not a downloadable VENACE CNC program, a universal drilling pattern or confirmation that a particular CAD file is available.
Separate fit planning from machining approval
First establish that the selected mechanism fits the finished cabinet and can open, rotate where applicable, and close without interference. The built-in ironing board cabinet dimension guide addresses that planning task. CNC preparation starts after the model and cabinet arrangement have been selected.
Record who owns each decision. The product supplier confirms the current product interface. The cabinet designer defines the panel construction and installation arrangement. The machining team controls tool selection, workholding and the machine-specific program. Resolve conflicting requirements before releasing files.
Build a controlled handoff record
| Record | Required decision | Reason to hold release |
|---|---|---|
| Product identity | Model, handing and product drawing revision | The sample or hardware does not match the drawing |
| Cabinet definition | Panel IDs, material, finished thickness and edge treatment | The fixing face or finished opening is unclear |
| Coordinates | Units, datum faces, origin and axis directions | Dimensions reference different faces or unit systems |
| Machined features | Hole locations, diameters, depths and through/blind status | A fixing detail has been inferred from a photograph |
| Release evidence | Approved drawing list and first-article acceptance record | A drawing changed after the program was prepared |
Check datums, scale and mirrored parts
Identify the face and edge used to locate each feature. An offset measured from an unfinished panel edge is not necessarily the offset from the finished cabinet opening. State whether dimensions include edging and whether the hardware bears against the inside or outside face.
Check the imported file scale against a known dimension before using it in CAM. Retain the controlling unit system; do not create two independently rounded dimension sets. If a left-hand installation is proposed, verify it against the approved mechanism and cabinet arrangement. Mirroring a panel drawing does not establish that the mechanism can be installed on the opposite side.
Review holes and fixings together
For each fixing, connect the panel feature to the approved fastener and hardware interface. Check panel thickness, blind-hole depth and access for assembly. Identify any neighboring hinge, runner or shelf feature that could interfere with the fixing position. Do not select screw lengths or drilling depths from a generic article.
For drawer conversions, resolve whether the existing drawer box and runners remain part of the design. The drawer ironing board installation guide explains the fit questions that should be settled before machining. A visually similar runner is not evidence of interchangeable fixing geometry.
Inspect a first article before releasing the batch
Use a representative cabinet panel set and the selected hardware. Compare machined features with the released drawing, then review assembly access, stored fit, extension, rotation where applicable, and closure. Record interference, unexpected movement and any changed component. Functional fit does not establish the load rating or structural suitability of the cabinet.
If the panel design, mechanism or drawing revision changes, identify which checks must be repeated. Keep the accepted sample identity, marked-up drawing and approval decision together. Do not let an edited machine file become an undocumented substitute for the approved design.
Frequently asked questions
Can a rough-opening template be used as a CNC drilling file?
Not without confirmation. A rough-opening template may define space for an assembly while omitting fixing geometry, panel construction and feature depths. Ask which dimensions control machining for the exact model.
Can the same file be used for every cabinet width?
Do not assume so. Cabinet width changes can affect mounting faces, support details and the operating envelope. Review the revised cabinet against the selected product interface and approve the affected features.
What should a cabinet maker send with an inquiry?
Send the intended ironing board format, cabinet section, finished panel thicknesses, marked reference faces, desired opening direction and quantity. Include the drawing revision and the file format requested. Availability and suitability must be confirmed for the project.
Request a model-specific interface review
Contact VENACE with the cabinet layout and procurement brief. Request the current model information before approving machining. Keep engineering approval separate from the quotation and delivery discussion.
